The Iasi International Festival of Literature and Translation (FILIT) is an event at its second edition. Between 1-5  October 2014, the event will bring together more than three hundred book professionals from Romania and around the world. Writers, translators, publishers, festival organisers, literary critics, book distributors, cultural managers and journalists will take centre stage in events aimed at both the general public and professionals in the field.

In 2014, FILIT will be taking place under the Patronage of the Representation of the European Commission in Romania and will comprise of public lectures, meetings of the writers with young readers from high-schools and universities, the FILIT evenings hosted by the National Theatre, concerts, round tables and industry conferences. The BOOKFEST book fair will bring to the local public book offers and discounts from Romania’s most important publishing houses.

After the 2013 edition, Spanish weekly El Pais wrote that  FILIT was “even from its first edition, the most important literary festival in Eastern Europe” and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung appreciated that „an event of such prominence and European making never existed in Romania“.

With more than 26.000 visitors in 2013, FILIT was not only a public success, but represented also a starting point for future collaborations with similar festivals in France and Switzerland, and it also created the perfect meeting-frame for Romanian writers with translators in English, German, Spanish, Norwegian etc.
