The International Festival of Literature and Translation of Iaşi – FILIT is pleased to announce further participants in the seventh edition of festival, between 2 and 6 October 2019, in Iași.
Diana Bădica, Dan Coman, Florin Irimia, Emanuela Iurkin, Dan Miron, Cătălin Pavel, Dan Pleșa, Simona Popescu, Andreea Răsuceanu, Doina Ruști, Bogdan Suceavă are the Romanian writers that the public will have the opportunity to meet at Casa FILIT (the pavilion complex in Piața Unirii), together with the foreign guests of the festival.
Casa FILIT will also be the host of events focussing on poetry and featuring names such as Svetlana Cârstean, Ionel Ciupureanu, Sorin Despot, Diana Iepure, Irina Georgescu, Silvia Grădinaru, Ligia Keșișian, Vasile Leac, Vlad Pojoga, Monica Stoica, Livia Ștefan, Victor Țvetov, Mihai Vieru, Gelu Vlașin, Andrei Zbîrnea.
Casa Copilăriei (Children’s Palace Iași), dedicated to children’s books, will host events with writers such as Cristina Andone, Lavinia Braniște, Veronica D. Niculescu, Alexandru Vakulovski and Matei Vișniec. At Casa Fantasy (Casa de Cultură a Sindicatelor), dedicated to fantasy literature, the guests will be Rodica Bretin, Lucian Merișca, Ana Maria Negrilă, Mircea Opriță and Liviu Surugiu.
As FILIT continues its collaboration with the “Luceafărul” Theatre in Iași for the “The FILIT Residencies for Romanian Authors” programme, the beneficiaries of the “Playwriting” section, Andrei Crăciun, Bogdan Georgescu and Olga Macrinici will be present in the festival.
Aside from Romanian and foreign writers, coming to FILIT will be translators of Romanian: Georg Aescht (Germany), Jan Willem Bos (the Netherlands), Jan Cornelius (Germany), Sean Cotter (USA), Antònia Escandell Tur (Spain), Jarmila Horáková (the Czech Republic), Fernando Klabin (Brazil), Joanna Kornaś-Warwas (Poland), Gabriella Koszta (Hungary), Marily Le Nir (France), Steinar Lone (Norway), Marian Ochoa de Eribe (Spain), Ivana Olujić (Croatia), Szonda Szabolcs (Romania, Hungarian language).
The International Festival of Literature and Translation of Iaşi – FILIT is organised by the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iași and funded by the County Council of Iaşi, being considered one of the largest literary festivals in Europe. For the seventh edition (2-6 October) confirmations of participation have come from Richard Ford (USA), Mihail Shyshkin (Russia), María Dueñas (Spain), Mathias Énard and Lionel Duroy (France), Sjón (Iceland), Kim Leine (Denmark), Herman Koch (the Netherlands), Aslı Erdoğan (Turkey), Ahmed Saadawi (Iraq), Svetislav Basara (Serbia), Drago Jančar (Slovenia), Geneviève Damas (Belgium), Faruk Šehić (Bosnia-Herzegovina).
