The fifth edition of the Iaşi International Festival of Literature and Translation (FILIT) will take place under the High Patronage of the Representation of the European Commission in Romania.
This is the third collaboration, after the 2014 and 2016 editions, when joint professional literary events have been organised in view of promoting cultural diversity. “This year, too, the patronage of the Representation of the European Commission in Bucharest is an honour and it highlights the European dimension of the festival, the way it contributes to the international mobility of cultural values and, last but not least, to the acknowledgment of the extraordinary role of literary translators in consolidating a European identity”, said Monica Salvan, International Affairs representative at the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iași.
This year, the Iaşi International Festival of Literature and Translation (FILIT) will bring together renowned writers from Romania and abroad between 4 and 8 October, at a series of events open to the general public. The guests include Svetlana Alexievich and Gao Xingjian (Nobel laureates in Literature), Jeff Lindsay, Jim Crace, Jonathan Coe, etc., along with dozens of Romanian writers and poets, as well as translators from all over the world. The event will also feature cultural managers, editors, journalists from Romania and abroad.
FILIT is an annual project funded by the Iaşi County Council through the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iași.
