The International Festival of Literature and Translation of Iaşi (FILIT) is launching its call for applications for the FILIT residencies for Romanian authors (prose/drama). The initiative belongs to the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iaşi and it aims to support six authors, who will receive reimbursement of travel costs, accommodation for a month and a lump sum of 2.000 lei.
This year we continue the collaboration with the „Luceafărul” Theatre in Iaşi, part of the residencies being aimed at Romanian playwrights. The texts they produce during the residency will be presented as reading performances during the 12th edition of the International Theatre Festival for Young Audiences (FITPTI) in autumn this year (3-10 October) and will be published in a collective volume.
The programme includes six FILIT residencies in Iaşi (the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iaşi). Each residency lasts 30 days, in the period 1 July – 31 October 2019, and 1 July – 8 September for those who write for the stage, in an interval chosen by the beneficiary.
In order to apply, the author must prepare the following:
- application form, available on the website www.muzeulliteraturiiiasi.ro;
- a copy of his/her personal ID;
- name of the residency project and a brief description (max. 2000 characters);
- curriculum vitae.
The residency beneficiaries will have the obligation to produce a text about Iaşi or a theatre play (texts of minimum 10.000 characters), as well as to participate actively in one of the cultural events held by the Iaşi Museum of Literature during their residency. Moreover, whenever the texts are published, the author must mention that the text has been written with the support of the FILIT residency for Romanian authors.
The application interval is 7 May – 5 June 2019, and the files must be sent in electronic form to the address muzeul.literaturii@gmail.com. After application assessment, the results will be announced on 6 June 2019, on the websites www.muzeulliteraturiiiasi.ro and www.filit-iasi.ro.
