Between 23rd and 27th of October 2024, the public will have the opportunity to interact with renowned authors, prominent representatives of contemporary literature both from Romania and from abroad. The guest list includes writers such as Abdulrazak Gurnah (winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2021), Colm Tóibín (Irish novelist, poet, playwright, journalist and literary critic, with works translated into more than 30 languages), Clara Usón (emblematic voice of contemporary Spanish literature, winner of numerous international awards), Zeruya Shalev (internationally acclaimed Israeli writer, with books translated into more than 27 languages), Pascal Bruckner (well-known French novelist, essayist and philosopher, whose works have been translated into more than 30 languages).
The list of foreign guests also includes other important, translated and award-winning writers such as Lana Bastašić (Bosnia-Herzegovina / Serbia), Naoise Dolan (Ireland / Germany), Ariana Harwicz (Argentina / France), Tahar Ben Jelloun (Morocco / France), Kapka Kassabova (Bulgaria / United Kingdom), Markus Köhle (Austria), Alena Mornštajnová (Czech Republic), Kathrine Nedrejord (Norway), Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer (The Netherlands), Defne Suman (Türkiye / Greece).
FILIT 2024 will also be attended by acclaimed Romanian authors living in Romania and abroad, such as Radu Aldulescu, Adrian Alui Gheorghe, Liviu Antonesei, Raluca Antonescu, Vasile Baghiu, Ruxandra Burcescu, Mihaela Buruiană, Lena Chilari, Denisa Comănescu, Tudor Crețu, Péter Demény, Anda Docea, Cătălin Dorian Florescu, Emilian Galaicu-Păun, Iulia Gherasim, Raluca Nagy, Tiberiu Neacșu, Laura Francisca Pavel, Bogdan O. Popescu, Cristian Teodorescu, Tatiana Țîbuleac, Anda Vahnovan, Matei Vișniec.
Casa Copilăriei / The Childhood House will feature Ioana Chicet-Macoveiciuc, Luminița Corneanu, Augustin Cupșa, Ionela Hadîrcă and Cătălin Pavel, while the audience at Casa Fantasy / The Fantasy House will meet the writers Lucian Dragoș Bogdan, Marian Coman, Silviu Genescu, Laura Nureldin and Viorel Pîrligras.
A special place in the festival is reserved for the translators of Romanian literature, who play a key role in promoting Romanian literature and in translating and publishing Romanian writers abroad: Miruna Bacali (Germany), Jan Willem Bos (The Netherlands), Angela Bratsou (Greece), Sean Cotter (USA), Florica Courriol, Jean-Louis Courriol (France), Gabriella Koszta (Hungary), Steinar Lone (Norway), Bruno Mazzoni (Italy), Lora Nenkovska (Bulgaria), Marian Ochoa de Eribe (Spain).
FILIT will also host the national meeting of Romanian writers and translators selected for the European project Connecting Emerging Literary Artists (CELA), co-funded by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union, in which the Iași National Museum of Romanian Literature is the representative partner for Romania, together with ARTLIT. Writers Iulian Bocai, Paula Erizanu, Ioana Maria Stăncescu and ten translators from foreign languages into Romanian will take part in this meeting: Mădălina Balea and Andreea Bălteanu (Dutch), Jessica Bilcec (Ukrainian), Ilinca Gângă (Spanish), George Doru Ivan (Italian), Sergiu Lozinschi (Slovene), Maria Lupescu (Bulgarian), Aleksandra Petrov (Serbian), Andrei Săndulescu (Czech), Oana-Andreea Stoe (Polish).

FILIT is an annual event organized by the Iași National Museum of Romanian Literature and funded by Iași County Council. This year’s edition is also funded by the Ministry of Culture and is held under the high patronage of the European Commission Representation in Romania and under the patronage of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO. FILIT 2024 also subscribes to the UNESCO program Iași. City of Literature.
