The organizers of the International Festival of Literature and Translation of Iași – FILIT announce the name of another top guest, who will come to Iași between the 3rd of October and 7th of October. We are talking about Veronica Roth, ‘New York Times’ number one in the top of the best authors for the series ‘Divergent’ (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant). The trilogy ‘Divergent’ was adapted into a film series, featuring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, as leading actors. The movies enjoyed a huge success all over the world, with earnings of hundreds of millions and with a large number of awards and nominalizations.
Another volume of the author, Carve the Mark, published in January 2017, made its debut directly as number one on the New York Times best-selling list, remaining on this position for eighteen weeks. The Fates Divide, the second part of the series “Carve the Mark” also debuted as number one on the New York Times list and continues to attract a large number of readers.
Veronica Roth made her debut at the age of 22 and wrote the first volume of the series that would make her famous, ‘Divergent’, while attending the courses of Northwestern University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Her books have been awarded the “Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction” for several years in a raw. The volumes are published in Romania at Leda Publishing House.
The International Festival of Literature and Translation of Iași (FILIT) is a cultural project funded by the County Council of Iași through the National Museum of Romanian Literature of Iași, which brings together well-known writers from Romania and from abroad between the 3rd of October and 7th October, within events opened to the general public. There are important names of the international literature among the guests, such as Jonathan Franzen (USA), Jón Kalman Stefánsson (Iceland), Kamila Shamsie (Great Britain), Sylvie Germain (France), etc., together with tens of Romanian writers and poets, as well as translators from all over the world. The event will also be attended by cultural managers, publishers, journalists from the country and abroad.
